The Ledger
The Ledger is Sierra Claymore’s ongoing record of work, insight, and impact. It features selected projects, our ethos and origins and where we’ve delivered. It will also content original analysis by our founder of pivot points across numerous sectors.
This isn’t just a blog. It’s real-time strategy in motion where ideas meet execution, and where public engagement, policy shifts, and operational clarity are documented.
Our Origin Story

July 2025
Sierra Claymore Advisory was born in the bleachers at Dodger Stadium.
It was one of those classic Los Angeles 23 degrees day with a light breeze, the kind of afternoon that reminds you why California is still one of the best places in the world. I was there with my father, watching the Dodgers and talking through what comes next for me.
My university consultancy was winding down, and the question was simple: what now?
There’s something about LA that sharpens your thinking. It’s a city built on momentum you make your own way, you forge your own path, and if you want to build something that lasts, you start it yourself. Somewhere in the third inning, I realized I didn’t want to be beholden to expiring contracts or institutional drift. I wanted to choose my projects, shape my own direction, and build something that reflected how I work. Grounded advice, strategic thinking selective output.
The Dodgers won. And somewhere between a Shoehei Ohtani homerun and the final out, Sierra Claymore was born.
I’ve been a Dodgers fan for years and you can usually find me in a Dodgers cap whether I’m hiking in Scotland or briefing a policy team in Westminster. Now it just means more.
Go Dodgers.
The Endless Workshop Trap

August 2025
The room was full but the agenda was vague and by the third roundtable, I realized no one intended to make a decision.
Early in my consultancy career, I was embedded in a project that met weekly in the form of workshops, feedback sessions, tone reviews, phrasing debates. We spent hours refining documents that were never finalized, generating ideas that only pulled us further from the core problems we were meant to solve. The simplest solutions were routinely side-lined. Someone was always uncomfortable with clarity, and so we scheduled meetings to discuss the outcomes of other meetings.
It was a masterclass in institutional drift.
What I saw then and what shaped Sierra Claymore’s founding ethos is that traditional consultancy often facilitates process, not progress. The cycle of engagement becomes self-reinforcing: more input, more iteration, less consequence. The work feels active, but nothing moves.
From that experience, I made a commitment. If I ever built my own firm, we’d keep tasks sharp and deliverables strong. We wouldn’t drift into endless workshops or performative engagement. We’d focus on giving the best answers as simply and directly as possible because clarity isn’t just efficient, it’s necessary.
We document what matters because strategy without record is just an echo.
